Your Contribution Counts Campaign, micro-loan selection criteria

March 2, 20180Comments by Suzanne F Stevens - YouMeWe
Your Contribution Counts Campaign, micro-loan selection criteria

For every 25 conscious-contributions™ shared on the YourContributionCounts page,  YouMeWe Group will invest $25 in a woman seeking a micro-loan for business or education through the Kiva.org program. Kiva provides micro-loans that change lives. By lending as little as $25, we can help women around the world create an opportunity for themselves and their communities.

Through participation, conscious-contributors can double your impact.

Micro-loan selection criteria:

  1. A micro-loan is provided to either advance education or expand a business.
  2. The country that is selected for investment is based on where the most campaign participants requested investment.
  3. Is there a micro-loan opportunity available through the Kiva program to invest in the most requested country at the time of 25 conscious-contributions being logged?
  4. YouMeWe will lean toward investing in a woman’s education or business, because:
    • The YouMeWe Foundation supports women in tertiary education, with the hopes of equalizing female representation in entrepreneurial and leadership roles.
    • Women also lead their communities and building strong families.
    • On average, women reinvest 80% of their income in the wellbeing of their children.
    • When investing in education, YouMeWe will seek individuals who are primarily seeking tertiary education – YouMeWe Group believes in investing in leaders. Our interviews with pioneering African women on WisdomExchnageTV.com also suggest the massive impact one woman with a vision and determination can have on an entire community.

6. When investing in a business, YouMeWe Group will lean toward women’s groups requesting the investment.

  • When a group of women is working together, they support each other in the success of her business, and in repayment of the loan.
  • Women Weaving, YouMeWe GroupIn rural communities where women often do not have collateral to secure the loan, each borrower guarantees the loan, promoting group empowerment and collaboration – two values of the YouMeWe Group and Movement.
  • Focus on groups that are creating a business that will offer opportunities for the community, or for future expansion. Groups that manufacture, or grow have the best growth potential and will possibly employ more people, providing for more families.

  1. When a country to invest in is not obvious amongst the contributors to the campaign, YouMeWe Group will highly weight countries where there are challenges receiving loans through traditional methods.
  2. Lastly, the on the ground Kiva loan partners will be assessed. So YouMeWe can continue to reinvest in other individuals and communities, the below criteria will be evaluated:
    • Field Partner risk rating: 3 or better
    • Delinquency rate
    • Loans at risk rate
    • Default rate
    • Repayment schedule

For campaign participants, all you need to do is log your contributions, YouMeWe Group will take care of
the research and the micro-loan.

To learn more about how to make your contributions count – twice, visit the YourContributionCount Campaign page, and log your contribution, so we can collectively weave the world together one conscious-contribution™ at a time.

Oh, I love it when I meet someone who surprises me Oh, I love it when I meet someone who surprises me!

In this YouMeWe Amplified Podcast, I had the unique opportunity to speak with Amanda Kelly, Co-Founder of AWAKE (@awake.ashes)

In this episode, we explore one of the most surprising innovations in sustainable deathcare: transforming cremation ashes into life-giving soil.

The idea didn’t start as a business.
It started with grief.

After unexpectedly becoming the caretaker of multiple urns belonging to loved ones, Amanda began asking questions about cremation, soil, and what really happens when ashes are returned to the earth.

What she discovered changed everything.

Today, Awake’s patented Ashes to Earth process helps families create living memorials—turning cremated remains into balanced soil capable of nurturing trees, gardens, and ecosystems.

But this conversation goes far beyond science.

It’s about grief, legacy, entrepreneurship, and the courage to build a mission-driven social enterprise in one of the most emotionally sensitive industries.
Because sometimes the most powerful contribution we make…
is the life we give back to the earth.

In this episode, you’ll discover:
• Why cremation ashes can damage soil and plants
• The science behind Awake’s Ashes to Earth process
• How grief sparked a groundbreaking green innovation
• The rise of sustainable funerals and eco memorials
• What it takes to build a mission-driven company in deathcare
• How families are creating living legacies

Let’s make waves for you • me • we.

🌊 A world designed mostly by men will reflect most 🌊 A world designed mostly by men will reflect mostly men.
A world designed together will work for everyone.

Today is International Women’s Day — a moment to celebrate the women who lead, build, challenge, nurture, and shape our communities every day.

But it’s also a moment to ask a bigger question.

Women make up half the population, yet we are still dramatically under-represented in the rooms where many of the most important decisions are made — in municipal councils, provincial legislatures, national governments, and global institutions.

And when voices are missing from the table, perspectives are missing from the policies.

This isn’t about suggesting every woman should run for office.
But it is about recognizing that the systems shaping our societies must reflect the people they serve.

Because when leadership reflects the diversity of our communities, the solutions become stronger, more thoughtful, and more inclusive.

So today, let’s celebrate women.

And tomorrow, let’s continue encouraging more women to step forward, raise their voices, and shape the future.

🌊 Because a world designed together works better for everyone.

How to get your children involved in your business How to get your children involved in your business and social impact, and why.

What if social impact wasn’t added on… but built in?

In this episode of YouMeWe Amplified, Suzanne F. Stevens sits down with @danakaluzny , co-owner of @endswellbeer in Collingwood, to explore how purpose can live inside the business model — not just the marketing.

From launching Soda Bros, a youth-led social enterprise created with her sons (where 50% of profits support local community organizations), to designing a brewery culture rooted in belonging and sustainability, Dana shares what it looks like to lead with intention.

In this conversation, we cover:

Baking social impact into your business plan
Raising entrepreneurial kids who understand profit and generosity
Setting boundaries when impact meets capacity
Working with your partner — navigating strengths, tension, and communication
Building a flat team culture through ownership and humility
This is a conversation about beer, yes —
but more importantly, about leadership, community, and designing business to “end well.”

If you’re building something in your town and wondering how it can matter more, this episode is for you.

What happens when real estate becomes a vehicle fo What happens when real estate becomes a vehicle for real change?
Not charity on the side. Not performative giving.

But purpose integrated into the work itself.

In this powerful episode of YouMeWe Amplified, I sit with Marcia Hubbs —a trusted real estate professional with more than 40 years of experience and a fierce commitment to community impact.
Marcia is proof that you don’t need to choose between professional success and social contribution—you can design a career where they amplify each other.
From championing women and children escaping violence through the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation and her local shelter, My Friend's House, to reimagining client gifting as a force for good, Marcia shares what it looks like to build a business that gives back—intentionally.
You’ll also hear the story behind the powerful awareness song "A Hand Up," (written by @bob_woodcock_music ), the role of music in social movements, and why community impact is never a solo act.

This conversation is for leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals who believe:

🌊 Success is hollow without contribution
🌊 Community is built through consistent action
🌊 Purpose belongs in the centre of our work—not on the sidelines

Have you ever paused to look around your own commu Have you ever paused to look around your own community and ask:
Who here is quietly making an extraordinary impact?

So often we look far and wide for inspiration—globally, nationally—yet right in front of us, people are creating profound change every single day.

As someone who has interviewed wave-making women across 25 countries (including my home country, Canada), I recently decided to look in my own backyard. What I discovered surprised me.

Five women—right here in my very small community—transforming their fields in ways that extend far beyond our local community.

One of them is @thejessicaflynn

In this episode of YouMeWe Amplified Podcast, I sit down with Jessica—a trained educator who turned the challenge of not finding a full-time teaching role into something far more impactful: an education model rooted in entrepreneurship, mindset, and social impact—designed around what young people actually care about.

Jessica is the founder of The Flynn Collaboration, The YOU Power Project, and The Academy of South Georgian Bay. Through her work, more than 1,000 students worldwide have launched real ventures, discovered their value, and stepped into leadership with confidence.

Jessica’s impact is another reminder that you don’t need to wait until retirement to bring a long-held passion to life. You can build something meaningful now, even from uncertainty.

In our conversation, we explore:
✨ Why mindset, entrepreneurship, and social impact must be core—not optional—in education
✨ How the YOU Power Project builds agency, confidence, and purpose
✨ What inspired the creation of an alternative school for changemakers
✨ Why community collaboration matters—and why none of this happens alone
✨ Practical insights for parents, educators, and impact-driven leaders rethinking the path forward

This conversation is for anyone who believes education should unlock potential—not mute it.
For families willing to take the path less travelled.
For leaders shaping the future—now.

On Giving Tuesday, everyone wants a piece of your On Giving Tuesday, everyone wants a piece of your wallet.
And honestly? Most of us are already stretched so thin we could snap.

Families can’t afford groceries. Violence against women persists. Homelessness continues to rise.
So when Giving Tuesday rolls around with hundreds of “urgent” asks, it’s no wonder we feel overwhelmed… and guilty… and disconnected.

We want to help. We care.
But let’s be real:
When we give everywhere, we connect to nothing.
And when we connect to nothing, we don’t actually feel like we’re contributing to anything that matters.
That emptiness makes us less likely to give in the future.
And that helps no one.

The pressure to “give broadly” is loud—and persuasive.
We’re told that generosity means casting the widest net.
But wide isn’t always wise.
And spreading ourselves thin doesn’t make us more compassionate—it makes us numb.
Because giving should ignite something inside you, not drain you.

So here’s a different way to think about Giving Tuesday:
Give with focus. Give with intention. Give where your compassion actually connects.
I call it your Compassion-Connection™—
The cause that tugs at your heart.
The issue you can’t ignore.
The people, the place, the inequity you feel in your gut—not the polished version you post on LinkedIn.
The raw, real pull that feels like your internal GPS saying:
“This is where you make your difference.”
When you give from that place—

✨ You feel connected.
✨ You feel purposeful.
✨ You feel like your contribution counts.

And you’re more likely to keep giving—because it fuels, not empties, you.

So today, don’t try to save the whole world.
Choose the corner of it that moves you.
Your Compassion-Connection™.
That is where your wave begins. 🌊

Share this post so others don’t drown in giving overwhelm. 💙❤️💜

Inspiration fades by Monday. Notes stay in notebooks. Real life takes over.

I designed the YouMeWe Summit differently.

Yes, you’ll leave with ideas, tools, and renewed energy — but you’ll also leave with an ongoing community of women entrepreneurs and impact leaders who are committed to continuing the conversation.

Post-Summit, we’ll keep connecting, sharing resources, and supporting each other to turn insight into sustained action.

Because change doesn’t happen in a moment. It happens in the movement that follows.
